PM Modi & PM Mitsotakis Reaffirm Commitment To Strengthen India-Greece Strategic Partnership

During a recent phone call, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening the India-Greece Strategic Partnership.

This discussion emphasized the potential for enhanced collaboration in various sectors, including trade, defense, shipping, and connectivity.

On Saturday, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) reported that both leaders recognized the positive momentum in their bilateral relations, following a series of high-level meetings that have laid the groundwork for cooperation in crucial areas such as maritime connectivity.

Productive Call With PM Mitsotakis To Strengthen India-Greece Partnership: PM Modi

PM Mitsotakis took the opportunity to congratulate PM Modi on his re-election after the Lok Sabha polls in June. He expressed optimism for the future trajectory of India-Greece relations.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Yesterday, had a productive conversation with PM @kmitsotakis, reaffirming our shared commitment to strengthening the India-Greece Strategic Partnership. Together, we aim to deepen our collaboration across trade, defence, shipping and connectivity. Greece is a valued partner for India within the EU as well.”

The dialogue also highlighted recent progress in multiple areas of bilateral cooperation, which builds on PM Mitsotakis’ visit to India earlier this year.

During that visit, he served as the chief guest at the Raisina Dialogue, India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geo-economics.

The discussions focused on the significance of improving connectivity, particularly through maritime routes and corridors, including the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

The leaders reviewed developments concerning IMEC, which aims to enhance connectivity not only between India and Greece but also across the broader region.

They exchanged views on regional and global issues, particularly the evolving dynamics in West Asia, reflecting their shared interest in fostering stability and economic growth.

As both countries look to the future, the commitment to deepen ties and explore new avenues for cooperation signals a proactive approach to strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Greece.
