In his tribute, PM Modi emphasized that Ratan Tata’s passing on October 9 left a void that reverberated across every segment of society. “From bustling cities and towns to villages, his absence is deeply felt by seasoned industrialists, budding entrepreneurs, hardworking professionals, and those dedicated to philanthropy,” said the Prime Minister. He added that Tata’s influence extended far beyond business, touching the lives of those passionate about the environment and social welfare.

PM Modi particularly note that Tata serve as an inspiration to the youth, reminding them that success pursue with both ambition and humility. “For the youth, Ratan Tata was a reminder that dreams are worth pursuing, and success can coexist with compassion and humility,” he said. “He represented the finest traditions of Indian enterprise, with a steadfast commitment to values like integrity, excellence, and service.”
The Prime Minister praised Ratan Tata’s leadership of the Tata Group, which, under his guidance, achieved new heights while remaining rooted in respect, honesty, and credibility. Despite his global success, PM Modi highlighted how Tata always maintained humility. “He wore his achievements lightly, with kindness and humility,” the Prime Minister added.
One of Ratan Tata’s most defining qualities, according to PM Modi, was his unwavering support for others’ dreams, especially for young entrepreneurs. The Prime Minister pointed out that Tata played a pivotal role in mentoring India’s startup ecosystem, investing in promising ventures and empowering young entrepreneurs.
“He understood the hopes and aspirations of young entrepreneurs and recognized the potential they had to shape India’s future,” said Modi. By backing their efforts, Ratan Tata encouraged a new generation of innovators to take bold risks and push boundaries. “This has gone a long way in creating a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, which I am confident will continue to positively impact India for decades to come,” Modi added.
Tata’s efforts were integral in setting global benchmarks for Indian enterprises. “He constantly championed excellence, urging Indian enterprises to set global standards. I hope this vision will inspire future leaders to make India synonymous with world-class quality,” PM Modi stated.
PM Modi also reflected on his close working relationship with Ratan Tata over the years, particularly during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. “We work closely in Gujarat, where he invest extensively, including in many of the projects passionate about,” the Prime Minister recalled.
In a significant moment earlier this year, PM Modi, alongside Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex in Vadodara, Gujarat—a major milestone for the ‘Make in India’ initiative in the aviation sector. “Just a few weeks ago, I visited Vadodara with President Sánchez, and we jointly inaugurated the aircraft complex where India will manufacture the C-295 aircraft. Ratan Tata initiat this project, and needless to say, his presence greatly missed,” Modi said.
Ratan Tata, the former Chairman of the Tata Group, passed away at the age of 86 on October 9. His legacy as a visionary leader, philanthropist, and mentor will continue to inspire generations of Indians and global citizens alike. The Tata Group, under his leadership, became a symbol of trust, quality, and ethical business practices, and his absence is deeply mourned by people from all walks of life.
