Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday paid homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur on the 350th anniversary of his martyrdom, honouring the ninth Sikh Guru’s immense contribution to the nation’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
In a post shared on X, the Home Minister said he bowed in reverence to the revered figure remembered as ‘Hind Ki Chadar’ for his defence of religious freedom.
Shah noted that Guru Tegh Bahadur dedicated his life to profound spiritual inquiry, noble teachings and the protection of India’s cultural fabric at a time of severe external assault.
Shah emphasised that the Guru stood fearlessly for Kashmiri Pandits and opposed oppressive Mughal rule, ultimately giving his life to safeguard dharma.
He added that recalling Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice, defined by courage, compassion and selflessness, continues to inspire a stronger resolve towards national unity and protection.
Earlier in the day, Shah reiterated the government’s determination to dismantle drug networks nationwide, commending the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police for a major seizure worth ₹262 crore.
In another post on X, the Home Minister said the administration was cracking down on drug cartels at an unparalleled pace, using both top-down and bottom-up strategies to expose trafficking operations. The breakthrough came with the confiscation of 328 kg of methamphetamine in New Delhi and the arrest of two individuals.
He described the coordinated operation as an example of seamless inter-agency cooperation aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a drug-free India.
The NCB confirmed that the seizure was part of Operation Crystal Fortress, an intelligence-driven crackdown on large-scale synthetic drug syndicates. The raid, carried out on November 20 in Chhatarpur, south Delhi, led to the recovery of high-quality methamphetamine from a residential property.
Investigators revealed that the trafficking ring used a network of couriers, safe houses and layered handlers, with Delhi serving as a distribution hub for both domestic and international markets.
Two suspects, including a woman from Nagaland, were arrested, while several operatives, including a kingpin based abroad linked to a major cocaine case last year, have been identified. The NCB said efforts were underway with global partners to facilitate his deportation to India for prosecution.
