Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary on Thursday, emphasising that his leadership continues to inspire the nation.
In a post on X, PM Modi described Vajpayee as ‘an eloquent orator and spirited poet’ whose life remains a guiding light for all-around national development. He praised Vajpayee’s conduct, grace, ideological commitment, and unwavering dedication to the nation, noting that true excellence is defined not by position but by actions and integrity.
“His personality, works, and leadership will continue to serve as a guiding path for the all-round development of the country,” PM Modi said, adding that the birth anniversary provides an opportunity for citizens to draw inspiration from Vajpayee’s exemplary life.

Rashtra Prerna Sthal: A National Tribute
PM Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh to inaugurate Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow, honouring the legacy of independent India’s luminaries.
Developed as a landmark national memorial, the complex aims to promote leadership principles, civic engagement, cultural awareness, and public motivation.
Constructed at an estimated cost of ₹230 crore and spanning 65 acres, the memorial features 65-foot-high bronze statues of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, symbolising their pivotal contributions to India’s political thought and nation-building.
The designers created the facility as a lasting national resource, providing visitors with inspiration and education on the values and vision that guided these leaders throughout their lives.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, born on 25 December 1924 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, shaped India’s democratic and developmental journey as a visionary statesman who served three terms as Prime Minister.
PM Modi’s tribute highlights Vajpayee’s commitment to good governance and the nation’s progress. It also reaffirms the former Prime Minister’s enduring influence on Indian politics.
The Rashtra Prerna Sthal will further immortalise the leadership, dedication, and civic responsibility demonstrated by these towering figures.
