In the aftermath of the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians, including 25 Indians and one Nepali national, the Indian Armed Forces launched a major counter-terror operation titled ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The operation, carried out with surgical precision, targeted nine known terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK).
The Indian government confirmed that all designated targets were successfully hit.
Importantly, the operation ensured that no Pakistani civilian or military infrastructure was affected.
The strike comes as part of India’s clear message that those responsible for the April 22 massacre will face justice.
PM Modi’s Direct Oversight
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took an active role in overseeing the mission.
Government sources said he stayed in constant touch with defence and security officials throughout the night.
His involvement underscores the strategic and symbolic importance of the mission in India’s broader fight against terrorism.
Precision Without Escalation
According to a statement from the Indian Army, the strikes were ‘focused, measured, and non-escalatory’.
The targets were specifically identified as terror camps linked to organisations responsible for orchestrating cross-border attacks against India.
A spokesperson for the Indian Army stated, “Our actions have been focused and precise. We have only targeted terrorist camps from where attacks against India have been planned and executed.”Emphasising the mission’s intention, he added, “Justice is served.”
No Civilian Harm, Strategic Messaging
The operation, while firm in intent, was carefully calibrated to avoid civilian harm and broader military confrontation.
Defence experts note that the strikes were designed to send a strong message without inviting open escalation.
By refraining from striking Pakistani military or economic assets, India has demonstrated strategic restraint paired with tactical resolve.
A Measured But Bold Step
‘Operation Sindoor’ reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding national security and ensuring accountability for terrorist actions.
The success of the mission not only avenges the loss of innocent lives in Pahalgam but also strengthens India’s posture in the global counterterrorism framework.
Further briefings from the Ministry of Defence are expected to provide more operational details and reinforce India’s resolve in confronting cross-border terrorism.
