PM Modi Mourns Padma Shri Awardee KV Rabiya; Hails Her Legacy In Literacy & Courage

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his heartfelt condolences over the passing of social worker and Padma Shri awardee, KV Rabiya.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister remembered Rabiya’s inspiring contributions to literacy and her courage in overcoming polio.

KV Rabiya’s ‘Life Of Service’ Condoles PM Modi

In his post, PM Modi wrote, “Pained by the passing away of Padma Shri awardee, KV Rabiya Ji. Her pioneering work in improving literacy will always be remembered. Her courage and determination, particularly the manner in which she battled polio, was also very inspiring. My thoughts are with her family and admirers in this hour of grief.”

Through his message, the Prime Minister acknowledged the significant legacy Rabiya leaves behind, especially her relentless efforts in promoting education among marginalised communities in Kerala and beyond.

KV Rabiya: A Symbol Of Resilience And Dedication

KV Rabiya, who battled polio from a young age, did not let her physical challenges hinder her mission.

Despite being wheelchair-bound, she dedicated her life to the cause of literacy, particularly for women and underprivileged sections of society.

Her initiatives played a key role in the Kerala State Literacy Mission, earning her recognition at both state and national levels.

Rabiya’s life story stands as a testament to perseverance.

She not only fought personal adversity but also led impactful grassroots movements that contributed to Kerala’s status as one of India’s most literate states.

National Recognition And Achievements

In 2020, the Government of India honoured Rabiya with the Padma Shri, one of the country’s highest civilian awards, in recognition of her extraordinary service in the field of social work and education.

Her work touched thousands of lives, and she remained an active advocate for literacy until her last days.

As news of her passing spread, tributes poured in from political leaders, educators, and social workers across the country. Many described her as a beacon of hope and a champion for inclusive education.

With KV Rabiya’s demise, India has lost a true social reformer. Her life and legacy will continue to inspire generations committed to the cause of education and empowerment.
