Tripura Elections: PM Modi Mocks Earlier Governments Amid Electoral Campaign

Tripura electoral campaign: While making a mockery of the previous ruling parties in Tripura, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that BJP made the state free from terror and violence.

In an election rally at Ambassa in Dhalai district, PM Modi said, that the BJP had brought the state back on the track of rapid development in just five years and that the state had decided that the “double-engine of growth” would not stop.

“The BJP has freed Tripura from an atmosphere of fear and a culture of ‘chanda’ (donations). Earlier, CPI(M) cadres used to control police stations, BJP has now established rule of law in the state,” said PM Modi.

Speaking about women empowerment in the poll-bound state, he said, “Now, there’s women empowerment in the state and there is an ease of living.”

Hailing the development of the state under the BJP rule, he added, “5,000 km of roads were built in Tripura to connect its villages. A new airport was also built in Agartala. Optical fibre and 4G connectivity are being brought to villages. Now, Tripura is becoming global. We’re developing waterways to connect the northeast and Tripura with ports.”

BJP and Congress declare electoral candidate list

The BJP has declared candidates for 55 assembly seats while leaving the remaining five seats for its alliance, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT). The Left-Congress alliance has also declared its candidates for all 60 seats.

Beginning his Assam electoral campaign in the state, PM Modi said, “The BJP-led administration in Tripura is concentrating on raising average household incomes. Farmers who are supported by PM-Kisan Yojana have had money deposited into their bank accounts. Once the BJP regains control of the government, this sum will be raised. MSP (minimum support prices) is working well for farmers under our administration.”

Elections are to be held in Tripura for 60 seats on February 16 while in Meghalaya and Nagaland, it will take place on February 27. On March 2, there will be a simultaneous vote count in all three states.
