Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands in New Delhi, where both leaders exchanged views on India’s rapid progress in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and its contribution to strengthening financial inclusion.
The discussions focused on how digital innovation has made financial services more affordable, accessible, and efficient for people across the country.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister stated that India’s technology-driven governance model has improved everyday life for millions by widening access to secure financial services. He also reiterated India’s willingness to share its digital expertise and best practices with countries looking to build similar systems.
Queen Máxima is visiting India in her role as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health.
The Ministry of External Affairs said her visit reflects the shared commitment of India and the Netherlands to advancing inclusive growth through digital innovation and stronger financial ecosystems.
As part of her programme, Queen Máxima interacted with people from varied backgrounds to better understand their experiences with banking services and financial well-being. She also met beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, learning how the flagship scheme has expanded access to formal banking for millions of households.
The visit is expected to encourage greater collaboration between governments, policymakers and private-sector stakeholders on financial inclusion and digital transformation. It also follows Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to the Netherlands, where he met Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander to strengthen bilateral relations.
The latest engagement reflects India’s growing international leadership in Digital Public Infrastructure and reinforces the shared vision of both countries to promote inclusive, technology-led and sustainable economic development.
