PM Modi Meets LK Advani; Seeks His Blessings On 25-Year Milestone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani at his residence and sought his blessings as he marked 25 years of uninterrupted service in executive office.

PM Modi’s journey in executive leadership began on October 7, 2001, when he became Gujarat Chief Minister. He has since served continuously in executive office, including as Prime Minister since May 2014.

The meeting highlighted the longstanding association between PM Modi and Advani, one of the key figures in the BJP’s growth.

Photographs from the meeting showed the two leaders sharing a cordial interaction.

LK Advani is widely regarded as an important political mentor to PM Modi and played a significant role in developing the BJP’s organisation and nurturing leaders as the party expanded its presence across the country.

During his tenure as BJP president and later as Deputy Prime Minister, LK Advani remained a prominent figure in the party’s rise.

PM Modi has frequently acknowledged Advani’s contribution to his political journey and the BJP’s development. He has maintained the practice of meeting the veteran leader on his birthdays.

In previous years, PM Modi described Advani’s contribution to the nation as ‘monumental’.

The Prime Minister visited LK Advani’s residence in May 2019 after the BJP secured a second consecutive Lok Sabha majority, seeking his blessings before staking a claim to form the government.

Wednesday’s meeting came a day after the Union Cabinet adopted a resolution congratulating PM Modi on completing 25 years of continuous leadership.

The resolution highlighted his journey from Gujarat to New Delhi and said the principles of ‘Nation First’ and ‘Citizen First’ guided it. The Union Cabinet adopted the resolution with a standing ovation.
