Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined nine key ‘convictions’ for citizens while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Bhairavaikya Mandir at Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasansthan Math in Mandya.
Emphasising water conservation, PM Modi said regions like Mandya, blessed by the Cauvery River, understand the value of water and urged people to use it responsibly. He encouraged citizens to plant trees in the name of their mothers and called for greater participation in afforestation drives across the country.
Highlighting cleanliness, the Prime Minister said maintaining hygiene in religious places, public spaces, villages, and cities is a shared responsibility.
On economic self-reliance, PM Modi stressed promoting swadeshi and Atmanirbharta by supporting Indian-made products and strengthening domestic industries. He also urged people to explore the country and promote domestic tourism, noting that understanding India’s diversity strengthens unity and development.
Addressing farmers, the Prime Minister called for a gradual shift towards chemical-free organic farming to ensure sustainable agriculture and better public health.
Speaking on food habits, PM Modi highlighted traditional foods such as ragi mudde and encouraged the inclusion of millets in daily diets, while cautioning against rising obesity and suggesting reduced oil consumption. He further urged citizens to adopt yoga, sports, and fitness as part of daily life and emphasised the importance of helping others, stating that service-mindedness strengthens society.
Expressing confidence, the Prime Minister said that adopting these convictions sincerely would contribute to the development of Karnataka and the nation, describing Mandya as a land known for both sweetness and warm hospitality.
