Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended his deepest appreciation to the men and women of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on its Raising Day, praising their professionalism and unwavering resolve in moments of crisis.
He said the NDRF works tirelessly to protect lives, provide relief and restore hope during disasters.
In a message posted on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said NDRF personnel always remain at the forefront when calamity strikes, operating under the most challenging circumstances.
He added that their skills, discipline and sense of duty exemplify the highest standards of public service, earning the force respect both nationally and internationally.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also extended greetings to the force, saluting its courage, professionalism and swift response during emergencies. He noted that the NDRF’s selfless service has saved countless lives across the country.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the NDRF as a ‘pillar of trust’ during calamities, saying the force has played a crucial role in realising the government’s resolve to build a disaster-resilient India. He also paid tribute to personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

India observes NDRF Raising Day every year on January 19 to mark the formation of the force.
Established in 2006 under the Disaster Management Act, the NDRF has led thousands of rescue, relief and evacuation operations nationwide.
The force comprises 16 specialised battalions deployed at 68 strategic locations, enabling rapid mobilisation during emergencies.
Guided by its motto, ‘Aapada Seva Sadaiv Sarvatra’, the NDRF continues to demonstrate courage, discipline and dedication, strengthening India’s disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
