On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. He recalled his enduring contribution to India’s development and social transformation.
In a post on X, PM Modi said Dr BR Ambedkar’s efforts towards nation-building continue to inspire generations to work towards a just and progressive society.
In a video message, PM Modi described the day as a significant moment in the country’s history. He said Dr BR Ambedkar symbolised determination and struggle.
The Prime Minister added that Dr BR Ambedkar dedicated his life to securing equality, particularly for marginalised and Dalit communities. Despite facing numerous challenges, he remained steadfast in his mission.
The Prime Minister added that by following the path shown by Dr BR Ambedkar, the country is bringing positive change in the lives of all sections of society.
The Prime Minister also shared a Sanskrit verse. He emphasised the idea of universal brotherhood and harmony. PM Modi said those with a broad outlook consider the entire world as one family.
Leaders across the political spectrum also paid tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Dr BR Ambedkar laid the foundation of India’s democracy by providing a Constitution that guarantees equal rights and opportunities to all. He added that Dr BR Ambedkar’s life teaches that strong resolve in the service of the nation can overcome any obstacle.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described Dr BR Ambedkar as a central figure in shaping modern India. He said Dr BR Ambedkar devoted his life to ensuring equality and justice for deprived sections of society and made an enduring contribution to nation-building.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also paid homage, describing Dr BR Ambedkar as the architect of the Constitution and a leading social reformer.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute. He said Dr BR Ambedkar laid the foundation of a just and inclusive society based on equality, justice and fraternity.
CM Yogi added that his life remains a guiding force for future generations.
Dr BR Ambedkar was born in 1891 in Mhow in present-day Madhya Pradesh. He was a jurist, economist and social reformer, and played a key role in drafting the Indian Constitution.
Dr Ambedkar dedicated his life to eliminating caste-based discrimination while promoting equality and social justice.
