Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed happiness over students in Classes 10 and 12 already visualising a ‘Viksit Bharat’ during the second episode of Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026.
Interacting with students from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country, he noted that young minds were thinking beyond examinations and focusing on the nation’s long-term goals.
He said their desire to contribute to India’s development by 2047 reflected a mature understanding of responsibility and progress, and encouraged them to align their daily behaviour with the standards seen in developed nations.
The Prime Minister underlined the importance of discipline through simple, relatable examples. He spoke about finishing all the food served at home, explaining how avoiding even small amounts of wastage could lead to significant savings when multiplied across millions of households.
Such mindful actions, he said, directly strengthen the country.
Another example highlighted was following traffic rules. Stopping at a red light without exception, even when no one is watching, demonstrates self-control and respect for systems that hold society together.
PM Modi stressed that discipline is the basis of a meaningful and successful life. Without it, he said, inspiration alone cannot deliver lasting results, describing motivation as ‘merely a bonus, like a cherry on top’.
The ninth edition of the programme, which has seen more than 4.5 crore registrations, featured energetic exchanges with students from several states. He encouraged them to see exams as opportunities for character-building rather than pressure points.
Broadcast on Doordarshan, the Prime Minister’s YouTube channel and other platforms, the session reiterated the initiative’s goal of easing exam stress while inspiring students to play an active role in India’s journey towards prosperity and discipline.
