Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended warm birthday wishes to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and commended his leadership for steering the state towards ‘remarkable progress’ in multiple sectors.
In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister prayed for Sarma’s long and healthy life in the service of the people.

Born on February 1, 1969, in Jorhat, Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma entered electoral politics in 2001 after being elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly from Jalukbari on a Congress ticket.
Following differences with the Congress leadership, he resigned from all party positions in 2014 and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in August 2015.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his birthday greetings, praising Sarma’s tireless efforts in realising the vision of a developed, peaceful, and secure Assam.
