Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sabara Sahi in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday to meet beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). During his visit, PM Modi asked about their economic conditions and experiences with other government schemes. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for benefits received from various programs, including Swachh Bharat Yojana, Svanidhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and Jan Dhan Yojana. They also thanked him for the SUBHADRA scheme, a key initiative of the newly elected BJP government in Odisha. The residents wished PM Modi a happy 74th birthday.
Community Involvement and Celebration
One beneficiary, engaged in sewing and tailoring, was asked by PM Modi to make a Kurta for him. PM Modi also asked about the transparency of the process, with beneficiaries affirming that no bribes were paid. He encouraged them to participate in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative and advised against using plastics and polythene bags. PM Modi offered to visit a beneficiary’s home for a meal.
During his visit, PM Modi participated in the ‘Gruha Prabesha’ ceremony for beneficiaries in Gadakana. The Prime Minister received a traditional welcome with ‘Anga Bastra’ and sandalwood paste. At one beneficiary’s new home, he enjoyed the Odia delicacy ‘Khiri’ or Payas and worshipped Lord Jagannath. Reflecting on the experience, PM Modi described the joy of witnessing the beneficiaries’ happiness as profoundly moving and a significant source of motivation for his work.
