PM Modi Inaugurates New Terminal Building At NAMO Airport In Daman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the new terminal building of NAMO Airport in Daman, marking a major step towards improving air connectivity and boosting economic activity in the Union Territory.

The inauguration was part of the Prime Minister’s visit to Daman, during which he will likely inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth around Rs 2,970 crore across sectors, including healthcare, tourism, infrastructure, and connectivity.

The newly developed terminal is likely to significantly improve access to Daman, which has largely depended on road connectivity with major cities in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

According to official information, the project has been designed to enhance regional connectivity and make travel more convenient for residents, tourists and businesses.

The terminal features modern passenger amenities and can accommodate around 180 passengers at a time.

Officials said the airport would help improve links between Daman and key cities such as Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Delhi, strengthening the Union Territory’s integration into India’s growing civil aviation network.

The airport project marks a key infrastructure milestone for Daman as the region seeks to expand its tourism industry and attract greater investment.

The Prime Minister had earlier said that the new terminal would improve connectivity and contribute to regional development by making travel easier for both residents and visitors.

Part of a Larger Infrastructure Push

The inauguration comes amid the Centre’s broader push to strengthen transport infrastructure in smaller cities and Union Territories through investments in roads, railways, ports and aviation facilities.

Following the airport inauguration, PM Modi is likely to attend a public programme in Daman, where he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone for several other projects related to healthcare, public welfare, tourism and infrastructure.

Officials believe the new terminal will improve passenger movement, enhance regional integration and provide fresh momentum to economic growth in the coastal Union Territory.
