PM Narendra Modi, accompanied by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, participated in a ceremony on Sunday to inaugurate two vital railway projects in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.
These projects, built with Indian assistance, are set to enhance Sri Lanka’s railway infrastructure and connectivity.
The leaders jointly inaugurated the 128 km Maho-Omanthai railway line, which has been refurbished with Indian assistance of USD 91.27 million.
Additionally, they launched the construction of an advanced signaling system between Maho and Anuradhapura, funded with Indian grant assistance of USD 14.89 million.
These railway modernization projects are part of the India- Sri Lanka development partnership and represent a significant milestone in improving north- south rail connectivity across the island nation.
The upgrades are expected to facilitate faster and more efficient movement of both passengers and freight.
