PM Modi Holds Talks With South Korean President Lee At Hyderabad House

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral discussions with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at Hyderabad House, focusing on strengthening cooperation across key sectors.

Senior officials, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, were present during the meeting.

Earlier in the day, President Lee visited Raj Ghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.

Taking to X, the Ministry of External Affairs posted, “For peace, harmony, and a better world President @Jaemyung_Lee of Republic of Korea paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, honouring values of peace and non-violence.”

The South Korean leader was also given a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi received him. The event included cultural performances, with children waving the national flags of both countries.

President Lee arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for a three-day state visit, accompanied by First Lady Kim Hea Kyung and a senior delegation. Minister of State Harsh Malhotra received him at the airport.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also met the South Korean President.

The MEA described the visit as an important step in advancing the Special Strategic Partnership between India and South Korea, noting shared democratic values and expanding cooperation.

As part of the visit, Prime Minister Modi will host a luncheon for President Lee, while President Murmu will likely hold separate discussions and a state banquet in his honour.

Officials said the visit reflects both countries’ intent to further deepen engagement in traditional areas while exploring collaboration in emerging sectors.
