PM Modi Highlights 12 Years Of Infrastructure Growth Under #NayaBharatNirman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday marked 12 years of ‘Naya Bharat Nirman’, highlighting the country’s remarkable infrastructure transformation and reaffirming the government’s commitment to building next-generation infrastructure to realise the vision of a Viksit Bharat.

Sharing a message on social media with the hashtag #12YearsOfNayaBharatNirman, the Prime Minister said the past decade had witnessed unprecedented infrastructure development across the country. He emphasised that improved connectivity continues to create new opportunities, strengthen logistics networks and support India’s economic growth.

MyGovIndia highlighted major infrastructure gains over the past 12 years.

National Highways expanded from 91,287 km to 1,46,572 km, while highway construction accelerated from 12 km to 34 km per day.

The government electrified 69,873 route kilometres of railway tracks, taking broad gauge electrification from 20 per cent in 2014 to 99.6 per cent in 2026. It is also modernising over 1,330 Amrit Bharat stations.

164 Vande Bharat trains now operate across 274 districts, carrying nearly four crore passengers in FY26.

India’s metro network has also grown from 248 km to 1,155 km, serving more than one crore commuters daily across 26 cities.

The government also highlighted the success of the UDAN scheme, under which the number of operational airports increased from 74 to 164.

India now has 663 UDAN routes connecting airports, heliports and water aerodromes, helping the country emerge as the world’s third-largest domestic aviation market.

Ports and waterways have recorded significant progress as well.

Major ports handled a record 915 million tonnes of cargo in FY26, while cargo movement through inland waterways increased substantially.

The government said these achievements reflect India’s continuing focus on strengthening multimodal connectivity and building world-class infrastructure to drive long-term growth and prosperity.
