Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Somnath Temple in Gujarat stands as a timeless symbol of divine presence and continues to guide generations with its spiritual strength.
He made the remarks while attending the Somnath Swabhiman Parv during his three-day visit to the state.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Somnath stands as a beacon of eternal divinity. Its sacred presence continues to guide people across generations,” and shared highlights from the previous day’s programmes, including Omkar Mantra chanting and a drone show.

PM Modi arrived in Somnath on Saturday to take part in the four-day national commemoration held from January 8 to 11, marking 1,000 years of unbroken faith and resilience since the first recorded attack on the Somnath Temple in 1026 by Mahmud of Ghazni.
The Somnath Swabhiman Parv honours the temple’s enduring legacy as a symbol of India’s civilisational courage, spiritual strength and repeated revival despite centuries of invasions.
On Sunday, the Prime Minister is scheduled to participate in a Shaurya Yatra from Shankha Circle and later offer prayers at the Somnath Temple, followed by a public address at Sadbhavna Maidan.
In the afternoon, PM Modi will travel to Rajkot to inaugurate a trade show and exhibition at Marwari University as part of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference, and later inaugurate the regional conference for Kutch and Saurashtra.
He will also launch Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project in Gandhinagar, connecting Sector 10A to Mahatma Mandir.
This year also marks 75 years since the modern reconstruction of the Somnath Temple in 1951, led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and inaugurated by then President Dr Rajendra Prasad, underscoring the shrine’s enduring place in India’s spiritual heritage and resilience.
