PM Modi Hails Pilgrimage Spirit & Service In 123rd ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Address

In the 123rd edition of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt greetings to devotees across the country embarking on sacred pilgrimages.

He described these pilgrimages as journeys of discipline, purification, and devotion.

PM Modi also praised the spirit of selfless service around them.

“When one embarks on a pilgrimage, the first feeling that arises is, ‘Let’s go, we have been called!’ This emotion is the soul of our pilgrimage,” PM Modi said, emphasising that pilgrimages serve not only as personal spiritual fulfilment, but also as expressions of mutual love, discipline, and collective devotion.

PM Modi spotlighted the often unseen yet crucial contributions of volunteers and citizens who serve pilgrims.

“More people engage in serving the pilgrims than those who go on the pilgrimage. Free community kitchens, water points, medical camps, and resting shelters all reflect a collective spirit of care and hospitality,” he noted.

He described these services as ‘great rituals of opportunity’, where individuals across communities come together to assist others with a shared sense of devotion.

Revival of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

The Prime Minister expressed joy at the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, calling it a significant development.

Referring to it as the ‘abode of Lord Shiva’, he acknowledged its central role in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain traditions. “It is a place of convergence for various paths of devotion,” he said.

PM Modi highlighted India’s spiritual vitality with the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and the recently concluded Jagannath Rath Yatra.

Calling the Rath Yatra one of India’s most sacred festivals, he commended the scale and spirit of participation.

“Whether in Odisha, Gujarat, or any other region, these yatras reflect the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ — a united and exceptional India,” the Prime Minister remarked.

Concluding his address with blessings and praise, PM Modi said, “I extend my best wishes to all the fortunate devotees going on various Yatras. I also commend those who are engaged in making these journeys successful and safe with a spirit of service.”

The message echoed a call for devotion and discipline. It also highlighted the unifying spirit of service in India’s spiritual traditions.
