PM Modi Hails Indian Doctors Serving In Venezuela Under Operation Amistad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hailed the dedication of Indian doctors and medical professionals serving in earthquake-hit Venezuela under Operation Amistad, describing their efforts as inspiring examples of compassion and service.

Marking National Doctors’ Day, the Prime Minister praised the medical team for providing critical healthcare to those affected by the devastating earthquakes that struck the South American nation.

In a post on X, PM Modi said the doctors’ commitment during a time of crisis reflected the finest traditions of the medical profession. He noted that their work in Venezuela demonstrated how healthcare professionals consistently rise to the occasion whenever society faces extraordinary challenges.

The Indian Army’s field hospital is providing free treatment, medicines and emergency care to earthquake survivors under Operation Amistad, launched after the twin earthquakes on June 24 that claimed over 1,400 lives and caused widespread destruction in Venezuela.

The Ministry of External Affairs shared videos highlighting the impact of the Indian mission, with local residents expressing heartfelt gratitude for the assistance.

Local residents thanked the Indian medical team for its compassionate care, free treatment and timely assistance.

India’s relief mission reached Venezuela on June 28, with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar saying the field hospital and relief supplies would strengthen ongoing post-earthquake rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
