ICC Rankings Update: Ishan Kishan Replaces Abhishek Sharma At T20I Summit, Travis Head Leads Test Batters

The latest ICC Player Rankings have crowned India’s Ishan Kishan as the new No 1 batter in T20I cricket.

The wicketkeeper-batter moved ahead of compatriot Abhishek Sharma after earning a career-high rating, bringing an end to Abhishek’s nearly 12-month spell at the top of the rankings.

Kishan’s impressive showing at the ICC T20 World Cup laid the foundation for his rise to the summit. He amassed 317 runs during the tournament at a strike rate approaching 200, including a match-winning innings against Pakistan that earned him the Player of the Match award.

With the achievement, Kishan joined an exclusive group of Indian cricketers to have held the No 1 T20I batting ranking.

Although Abhishek Sharma slipped to second place, he remains only seven rating points behind Kishan.

Ireland’s Lorcan Tucker and Ross Adair climbed the batting rankings following their productive series against India. Their teammate Matthew Humphreys also reached a personal best by moving to 25th among T20I bowlers.

In the all-rounders’ list, Shivam Dube advanced to seventh, while Gareth Delany and Harry Tector also registered notable improvements.

Australia’s Travis Head climbed to the top of the ICC Test batting rankings for the first time after England’s Harry Brook and Joe Root lost ground.

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah also reclaimed the No 1 position among Test bowlers after overtaking New Zealand seamer Matt Henry.

New Zealand’s triumph over England resulted in ranking gains for Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Devon Conway and Tom Latham in the batting charts, while Nathan Smith advanced among Test bowlers.

West Indies quicks Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach also moved up after starring against Sri Lanka.
