PM Modi, French President Macron To Hold Strategic Talks In Mumbai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron are scheduled to meet in Mumbai on Tuesday to review progress under the India-France strategic partnership and discuss key regional and global developments.

PM Modi will travel to Mumbai for talks with the visiting French leader, who is on an official trip to India from February 17 to 19. Macron’s visit comes at Modi’s invitation to participate in the AI Impact Summit being hosted by India. This marks Macron’s fourth visit to India and his first official engagement in Mumbai.

At approximately 3:15 pm, the two leaders will hold bilateral talks at Lok Bhavan. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the discussions will include a comprehensive review of advancements made under the India-France Strategic Partnership.

The deliberations are expected to focus on strengthening strategic ties and expanding cooperation into emerging and future-oriented sectors, along with exchanging perspectives on significant regional and global issues.

Year Of Innovation Launch

Later in the day, around 5:15 pm, PM Modi and Macron will jointly inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. They are also set to address business leaders, start-up founders, researchers, and innovators from both countries, highlighting collaboration in technology and innovation-driven sectors.

Macron will also attend the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs said the summit is anchored in three ‘Sutras’: ‘People, Planet and Progress, ’ outlining India’s framework for international cooperation in Artificial Intelligence.

Several global leaders are expected to participate, including Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Netherlands Prime Minister Dick Schoof, Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, and Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam.
