PM Narendra Modi extended heartfelt wishes to the nation on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, underlining the cultural and spiritual importance of the day.

Posting on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Warm wishes on the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi! We pray to Bhagwan Vitthal and seek His continued blessings on all of us. May He guide us towards a society full of happiness and abundance. May we also keep serving the poor and downtrodden.”

Leaders join in wishing devotees

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also shared his greetings in Marathi, writing, “All of Pandharpur resounds with the chant of the divine name… Heartfelt wishes to everyone for Ashadhi Ekadashi!”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reflected on the divine significance of the day.

He said, “The holy occasion of Devshayani Ekadashi is dedicated to the worship and devotion of Lord Shri Vishnu, the sustainer of the entire universe… May His blessings bring happiness, peace, and good health to all.”

Ashadhi Ekadashi: Beginning of Chaturmas

Ashadhi Ekadashi, also known as Devshayani or Shayani Ekadashi, marks the beginning of the sacred four-month period of Chaturmas, considered the cosmic slumber of Lord Vishnu.

This year, devotees observed the occasion on Sunday, July 6.

Falling in the Hindu month of Ashadha, the festival is spiritually significant in Vaishnavite tradition and marks a time of increased devotional activity, fasting, and pilgrimage.

Maharashtra celebrates with Pandharpur Wari

The festival is especially revered in Maharashtra, where it marks the culmination of the Pandharpur Wari pilgrimage.

Lakhs of Warkaris, devotees of Lord Vitthal, walk for days chanting bhajans and abhangas to reach the Vitthal-Rukmini Temple in Pandharpur.

The journey stands as a symbol of unwavering faith, unity, and devotion.
