Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended his Diwali wishes to the nation through a letter. He drew a connection between Lord Ram’s message of righteousness and India’s recent Operation Sindoor.
He said that just as Lord Ram inspires people to stand for truth and justice, the operation reflected the same spirit in action.
PM Modi noted that India witnessed a true example of Lord Ram’s ideals during Operation Sindoor, when the nation upheld its dignity and responded firmly to injustice.
“I extend my heartfelt greetings to all of you on the auspicious occasion of Deepavali, a festival filled with energy and enthusiasm. This is the second Deepavali since the grand construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Lord Shri Ram teaches us to uphold righteousness and also gives us the courage to fight injustice. We saw a living example of this during Operation Sindoor. During that operation, Bharat not only upheld righteousness but also avenged injustice,” PM Modi stated.
PM Modi highlighted a major national milestone. This Diwali, he noted, holds special meaning as lamps will illuminate districts where Naxalism and Maoist violence have been eliminated.
“This Deepavali is particularly special because, for the first time, lamps will be lit in many districts across the country, including remote areas. These are districts where Naxalism and Maoist terrorism have been eradicated at the root. In recent times, we have seen many individuals abandon the path of violence and join the mainstream of development, placing their faith in the Constitution of our country. This is a major achievement for the nation,” PM Modi asserted.
The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s recent economic measures, noting that it reduced GST rates on the first day of Navratri.
“On the first day of Navratri, reduced GST rates implemented. During this ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ (Savings Festival), citizens are saving thousands of crores of rupees,” he noted.
Calling for the promotion of local products and a spirit of self-reliance, PM Modi said India has emerged as a symbol of both stability and compassion in a world facing multiple challenges.
“In a world going through multiple crises, Bharat has emerged as a symbol of both stability and sensitivity. We are also on track to become the third-largest economy in the world in the near future,” he further added.
Emphasising the importance of individual responsibility, he urged citizens to support the vision of a Viksit (Developed) and Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).
In his letter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to adopt positive lifestyle changes and strengthen national unity. He emphasised the following points:
- Adopt Swadeshi (local) products with pride,
- Promote the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’,
- Respect all languages and cultures across India,
- Maintain cleanliness in homes and communities,
- Prioritise health and well-being,
- Reduce oil consumption in food by 10 per cent, and
- Embrace Yoga as a daily practice for holistic living
PM Modi concluded his message with a call for unity and positivity.
“Deepavali teaches us that when one lamp lights another, its light does not diminish—it grows. With that spirit, let us light lamps of harmony, cooperation, and positivity in our society. Once again, wishing you all a very Happy Deepavali,” he remarked.
