Prime Minister Modi wished the nation on Buddha Purnima, marking the birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha.

The Prime Minister emphasised the enduring relevance of Lord Buddha’s teachings, which centre on truth, equality, and harmony.

In a post on X, PM Modi expressed, “Best wishes to all countrymen on Buddha Purnima. Lord Buddha’s messages, based on the principles of truth, equality and harmony, have been a guide for humanity. His life dedicated to sacrifice and penance will always inspire the world community towards compassion and peace.”

Wishes From National Leaders

President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her heartfelt greetings, underscoring the significance of Buddha’s message of non-violence and compassion.

“On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens and the followers of Lord Buddha all over the world,” she stated.

President Murmu urged adopting Buddha’s ideals in daily life to contribute to a peaceful, harmonious, and developed India.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared his best wishes as well, reiterating Buddha’s teachings on knowledge, compassion, and non-violence.

“Happy Buddha Purnima to everyone. The life of Lord Buddha, who gave the message of equality and unity to human society by following the path of knowledge, compassion, and non-violence, is the confluence of thoughts, words, and deeds. I pray to Lord Buddha for everyone’s happiness and peace,” Shah posted.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid tribute to Lord Buddha, describing him as a symbol of peace, wisdom, and compassion.

“On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, I bow to Mahatma Buddha who is the symbol of peace, wisdom and compassion. His timeless teachings continue to guide humanity towards harmony, self-realisation and the path of righteousness,” Singh stated on social media.

Buddha Purnima, or Vesak, is a major festival for Buddhists, celebrating Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and death.

It reminds us of Buddha’s teachings on peace, morality, and living a life of compassion, non-violence, and equality.
