PM Modi's State Visit to Bhutan Extends from March 22nd to 23rd
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude towards King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan as he concluded his two-day State visit to the Himalayan nation on Saturday. In a notable gesture, both the King and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay saw him off at the airport.
PM Modi took to social media, stating, “I am deeply honored by the gracious farewell extended by His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, as I depart for Delhi.” Describing the visit as exceptionally significant, he highlighted meetings with the King, PM @tsheringtobgay, and other dignitaries, affirming their discussions would fortify the India-Bhutan friendship. He also expressed gratitude for being bestowed with the Order of the Druk Gyalpo.

Expressing appreciation for the warmth and hospitality received, PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment as a steadfast friend and partner to Bhutan. Earlier, PM Modi, along with his Bhutanese counterpart, inaugurated the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck Mother and Child Hospital, funded entirely by India.
During the visit, PM Modi announced a substantial assistance package for Bhutan’s 13th five-year plan, further enhancing bilateral ties. PM Tobgay lauded PM Modi’s visit, citing it as a testament to their enduring friendship.
PM Modi was honored with the ‘Order of the Druk Gyalpo,’ Bhutan’s highest civilian award, reflecting the deepening ties between the two nations. The leaders reviewed bilateral energy cooperation, emphasizing its potential to bolster both countries’ economies and energy security.
The visit, spanning from March 22-23, witnessed the Bhutanese people’s enthusiastic reception, underscoring the India-Bhutan relationship’s warmth and closeness. PM Modi’s visit solidified the bond between the two countries, fostering mutual prosperity and cooperation.
