On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed unwavering confidence in the potential of India’s youth, emphasizing that they are key players in shaping the nation’s future. Addressing the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on National Youth Day, PM Modi declared that India’s youth will chart the path to achieving the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047.
In his address, PM Modi recalled the profound influence of Swami Vivekananda, who placed immense trust in the nation’s youth. “Swami Vivekananda believed in the new generation, and I share that same belief. If he were with us today, he would be inspired by the efforts of today’s youth,” the Prime Minister remarked.
He stressed the importance of the Bharat Mandapam, the venue for the event, where global leaders had gathered to discuss worldwide development. “Today, young leaders from across India are here, shaping the roadmap for our country’s next 25 years,” Modi said.
Trust And Friendship As Pillars Of Progress
PM Modi reflected on a recent conversation with athletes who described him as a “friend.” “The foundation of friendship is trust, and I have immense trust in the youth of this nation,” he said. This trust, he added, inspired initiatives like the ‘My Bharat’ campaign and the ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue,’ which aims to involve young people in shaping national policies.
While acknowledging the challenges ahead, PM Modi remained optimistic. “Some may view this vision as impossible, but I believe it is achievable. When millions of young people drive development forward, our goals become attainable,” he asserted.

Drawing from history, PM Modi cited examples like America’s ‘New Deal’ and Singapore’s transformation, underscoring how collective resolve leads to extraordinary accomplishments. He also pointed to India’s past triumphs, from its struggle for independence to overcoming agricultural crises, eradicating open defecation, achieving financial inclusion, and delivering LPG cylinders to every household.
The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly its role in developing vaccines and conducting the world’s largest vaccination campaign. Furthermore, India’s commitment to green energy was emphasized, with PM Modi noting that the country had met its Paris Agreement commitment nine years ahead of schedule and was on track to achieve its ethanol blending target ahead of time.
Youth Contributions Drive Policy And Progress
The Prime Minister expressed immense pride in the youth’s contributions to the dialogue, noting that their understanding of India’s challenges and ground-level solutions would guide the country’s policies and future development. “Your ideas, which emerged from this dialogue, will shape India’s path forward,” he stated.
India, one of the youngest nations in the world, stands to benefit from the contributions of its youth, PM Modi emphasized. He reiterated his call for one lakh young people to enter politics, envisioning it as a platform for implementing transformative ideas. “I am confident that many of you will step forward to contribute to the vision of a Viksit Bharat,” he added.
A Global Leadership Role For India’s Youth
PM Modi also pointed to the increasing leadership roles that Indians are assuming globally. “We are entering an Amrit Kaal, a golden period,” he said, expressing his faith that India’s “Yuva Shakti” (youth power) will propel the nation toward becoming a developed country.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited an exhibition showcasing the innovative contributions of 3,000 young leaders. These exhibits, aligned with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047,’ focused on advancements in digital technology, sustainability, and other development goals. The young innovators presented ideas across ten critical themes such as technology, sustainability, women empowerment, manufacturing, and agriculture, all aimed at addressing the nation’s pressing challenges.

The Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue redefined the traditional National Youth Festival, aligning it with PM Modi’s goal of engaging one lakh youth in non-partisan political activities. The event provided a platform for young leaders to turn their ideas into actionable contributions toward India’s progress.
The dialogue marked a historic convergence of youth leadership and innovation, reaffirming the government’s commitment to empowering a future-ready generation poised to transform India into a developed nation.
