Ahead of his departure, the Prime Minister said the visit would focus on expanding economic partnerships. He added that strengthening cultural ties would also remain a key priority.

The first leg of the tour will take place in the French city of Nice. A major attraction of the visit will be the ‘Bharat Innovates’ initiative.

French President Emmanuel Macron will likely join the event. The gathering will connect start-ups, innovators, venture capital firms, and technology stakeholders from several countries.

The programme forms part of the India-France Year of Innovation celebrations. It is designed to encourage greater cooperation in innovation, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies.

PM Modi will meet President Macron during his stay in France.

The leaders will assess the progress achieved under the India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership. Their discussions will span a wide range of subjects of mutual interest. They are also likely to explore fresh avenues for collaboration in key sectors.

After completing his engagements in France, the Prime Minister will travel to Slovakia from June 14 to 16. The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Robert Fico.

The trip will be historic as it marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence.

During the visit, PM Modi will hold official talks with Prime Minister Fico and also meet President Peter Pellegrini.

The Prime Minister will subsequently return to France for the G7 Summit in Evian.

The summit will provide an opportunity to engage with leaders from G7 member nations, partner countries, and international organisations.

On June 18, PM Modi will travel to Paris for further bilateral engagements. He will also attend the VivaTech Summit and interact with members of the Indian diaspora living in France.
