PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for a series of development projects worth ₹24,000 crore in Dahod, Gujarat, on Monday.

These projects include major railway infrastructure upgrades and initiatives aligned with the Gujarat government’s development agenda.

PM Modi Flags Off New Train Services

As part of the announcements, PM Modi flagged off two new train services, the Vande Bharat Express connecting Veraval to Ahmedabad and an express train between Valsad and Dahod.

He emphasised the importance of these additions in improving regional rail connectivity.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the new Loco Manufacturing Shop-Rolling Stock Workshop in Dahod.

He flagged off the first electric locomotive built at the facility, marking a significant achievement in the Indian Railways’ modernisation efforts.

The government built the Dahod plant at a cost of ₹20,000 crore and completed it in just three years. The plant manufactures 120 electric locomotives annually and can scale up production to 150.

Under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, the plant aims to produce 1,200 high-powered locomotives over the next decade.

These 9,000 HP engines will carry the ‘Manufactured in Dahod’ tag and support both domestic operations and exports.

PM Modi Reaffirms Commitment To Nation

Addressing a massive crowd waving the national Tricolour, PM Modi recalled taking office for the first time on May 26, 2014.

“In these years, I have dedicated myself to the nation. Decades-old shackles have been broken, and India has taken bold, unprecedented decisions,” he asserted.

He underlined the country’s strides toward self-reliance and emphasised, “Today, we 140 crore Indians are working to make India a Viksit Bharat. Everything needed for the country’s progress must be made in India.”

Highlighting India’s progress in manufacturing and technology, PM Modi said the country now produces essential technology for rail and metro systems and is even exporting it.

“Our Dahod is a living example of this,” the Prime Minister noted.

PM Receives Thunderous Welcome In Vadodara

Later in the day, the Prime Minister arrived in Vadodara to a grand reception. Thousands lined the streets for his roadshow, chanting slogans like ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, ‘Modi-Modi’, and ‘Vande Mataram’.

The atmosphere was festive with flower showers and patriotic displays, including tributes to the Indian Armed Forces and the PM’s leadership in recent military operations targeting terror hubs in Pakistan and PoK.

Following his Vadodara visit, PM Modi will head to Bhuj to launch development initiatives worth over ₹53,400 crore.

These projects span Kandla Port development, solar energy, power transmission, and road infrastructure.

Water Supply Projects For Dahod And Mahisagar

PM Modi will also unveil four new drinking water supply schemes worth ₹181 crore.

These initiatives are set to benefit 4.62 lakh residents across 193 villages and one town in the Dahod and Mahisagar districts.

On the morning of May 27, the Prime Minister will lead a roadshow in Gandhinagar with over 30,000 BJP workers expected to participate. He will then visit Mahatma Mandir to inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects totalling ₹5,536 crore.
