PM Modi Congratulates India’s Junior Hockey Teams On Double Junior Asia Cup Triumph

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded India’s junior men’s and women’s hockey teams on Sunday after both squads emerged victorious in their respective Junior Asia Cup finals in Moqi, China.

The men retained their championship, while the women completed a hat-trick of titles, giving Indian hockey a memorable double.

PM Modi credited the young players for combining considerable talent with strong determination throughout the competition.

India’s junior women produced a narrow 1-0 victory over hosts China to retain the continental crown.

Sanika Chandrakant Mane settled the contest by finding the net in the 17th minute.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “A proud moment for Indian hockey! Congratulations to our Junior Women’s Hockey Team on retaining the Asia Cup with a superb unbeaten campaign. Their success reflects the talent and determination of the players. Best wishes to the entire team!”

The latest triumph followed India’s title-winning performances in the 2023 and 2024 editions.

The junior men, meanwhile, delivered an authoritative 4-1 victory against South Korea in the final.

PM Modi praised the side for producing an emphatic performance in the title clash.

“Congratulations to our Junior Men’s Hockey Team on winning the Asia Cup with an emphatic 4-1 win in the final. It is indeed a remarkable achievement. This feat reflects the immense talent of our young players. Best wishes to the entire team!” the Prime Minister posted.

Ajeet Yadav, Anmol Ekka, Prabhdeep Singh and Ashu Maurya registered the goals for India.

The victory created a new milestone, with India becoming the first team to claim four successive Junior Asia Cup men’s titles.

India’s twin success in China earned both teams qualification for the Junior Hockey World Cup, strengthening the country’s presence on the global junior hockey stage.
