PM Modi Congratulates Harivansh On Re-Election As RS Deputy Chairman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated Harivansh Narayan Singh on his re-election as Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, describing it as a testament to the House’s deep trust in his leadership and conduct.

Addressing members, the Prime Minister said Harivansh’s third consecutive term reflects his disciplined and efficient working style, which has contributed to improving the functioning of the Upper House. He noted that under his guidance, proceedings have become more organised, productive, and effective.

Expressing confidence in his new tenure, PM Modi said Harivansh would continue to serve with dedication and balance, helping the House reach new milestones through collective cooperation.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Harivansh’s background, noting his early involvement in rural development and his connection to the village of Jayaprakash Narayan. He linked the occasion to the birth anniversary of Chandra Shekhar, observing that Harivansh has contributed to preserving his legacy through his writings.

Beyond parliamentary duties, PM Modi praised Harivansh’s achievements in journalism, stating that his work has consistently reflected human values, discipline, and clarity of expression. He recalled reading his articles and noted his commitment to highlighting issues concerning ordinary citizens.

The Prime Minister further said that both new and experienced Members of Parliament can learn from Harivansh’s dedication, punctuality, and attentiveness. His ability to listen carefully and manage proceedings effectively was described as exemplary.

The Prime Minister also commended his outreach efforts, particularly his engagement with young people across the country.

Recalling his earlier tenure, PM Modi noted that Harivansh conducted hundreds of programmes in educational institutions, encouraging awareness and participation among students. He added that such efforts align with the vision of a developed India by 2047, inspiring youth to contribute actively to the nation’s progress.
