Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticised Congress over its youth wing’s recent shirtless protest at the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, describing it as a display of ideological bankruptcy.
The protest, held inside New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, targeted PM Modi and the Central government over alleged unemployment, inflation, and the India-US trade deal.
Addressing a large public gathering in Meerut, PM Modi said, “Indians are working hard to achieve the resolution of a Viksit Bharat. Yet, some political parties cannot digest the country’s progress. India recently hosted the world’s largest AI Summit — an unprecedented achievement for a developing nation. Were you not proud of this event?”
He added, “While the nation brimmed with pride, Congress turned a historic global event into a platform for naked politics. Youth Congress members reached the venue shirtless in front of foreign guests.
The Prime Minister said the nation already sees Congress as ideologically exposed and accused the party of defaming India, contrasting its actions with community spirit.
He recalled that Congress leaders harboured personal animosity towards him, yet the AI Summit belonged to the nation, and the party crossed all limits. He also criticised senior Congress leaders for praising the youth wing instead of condemning the protest.
Moreover, PM Modi thanked the INDIA bloc allies for condemning the Delhi incident, expressing his gratitude for their courage.
