Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday declared that the opposition’s momentum in Bihar had collapsed after the first phase of the Assembly elections.
Addressing a rally in Bhabua, Kaimur district, he said that the ‘balloon’ of the Grand Alliance, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, had burst following a record voter turnout of nearly 65 per cent.
The Prime Minister accused the RJD and Congress of arrogance at the beginning of the campaign.
“They had reached the heights of overconfidence, but as the campaign progressed, the air began leaking from their balloon. After the first phase of voting, it completely burst,” he remarked. PM Modi claimed that even within the opposition’s support base, the prevailing sentiment now echoed, ‘Ek baar phir NDA sarkar’ (NDA government once again).
He further alleged that the opposition alliance attempted to mislead young voters with hollow promises.
“Whenever the prince of jungle raj is asked how he will fulfil the lies he has told, he says, ‘We have a plan.’ But when asked what the plan is, he falls silent,” PM Modi said, indirectly referring to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.
‘Misrule Destroyed Bihar’s Growth’
Referring to Dalmia Nagar in Rohtas district, PM Modi said the region symbolised how Bihar’s industrial progress was derailed by misgovernance.
“A thriving industrial township built over decades collapsed due to extortion, corruption, kidnappings, and strikes under jungle raj,” he said, blaming previous regimes for the state’s economic decline.
The Prime Minister also accused the Congress and RJD of internal discord, claiming their alliance had fractured. “No amount of plaster can fix this broken wall,” he said, asserting that infighting had exposed their lack of unity.
“People Have Taken the Lead”
PM Modi urged voters to ‘punish’ those who insulted Bihar’s traditions and faith. Citing examples of alleged insults to Chhathi Maiya devotees, he said, “These people have no faith in Lord Ram and do not even visit Ayodhya.”
He concluded by expressing confidence in the NDA’s victory. “The high turnout proves the people of Bihar have decided to bring back the NDA. Get ready for celebrations after November 14,” he said.
