PM Modi Calls For Unity & Action To Tackle Societal Challenges At CBCI Event

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for unity and collective action to uphold harmony and address societal challenges like violence and disruptions during his address at a Christmas event hosted by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) on Monday.

The Prime Minister shared the event, held at the CBCI headquarters, on his social media handle X.

Speaking on the teachings of Jesus Christ, PM Modi emphasized love, harmony, and brotherhood as values that can guide society.

PM Modi stated, “We must unite to uphold harmony and confront challenges like violence and disruptions in society.”

“When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, India went beyond its own capabilities to help numerous countries. We provided medicines to several countries across the world and sent vaccines to many nations,” he added.

In his speech, the Prime Minister discussed India’s transformative progress over the past decade, focusing on poverty alleviation, economic growth, and empowering youth and women.

“We are now empowering the Yuva and Nari Shakti, paving the way for a brighter and more confident future,” PM Modi noted.

The Prime Minister further stated that by focusing on social welfare and empowerment, India has introduced transformative policies across multiple sectors.

“Our initiatives, such as the PM Awas Yojana and Matsya Sampada Yojana, have significantly improved the lives of countless people,” PM Modi noted.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of uniting to uphold the values taught by Jesus and strengthen the spirit of togetherness.

PM Modi Condemns Magdeburg Christmas Market Terror Attack

PM Modi condemned last week’s terror attack at Germany’s Magdeburg Christmas Market, where an SUV plowed into a crowd, killing four women and a nine-year-old child, and injuring 205 people, including seven Indians.

The Prime Minister highlighted the need to prioritize human welfare alongside national interests, noting that India’s foreign policy reflects this principle.

He also pointed to India’s humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, where the country supported over 150 nations with medicines and vaccines. This focus on human welfare left a positive global impact, with nations like Guyana and several island countries expressing heartfelt gratitude.

Additionally, PM Modi emphasized India’s efforts to evacuate citizens stranded in conflict zones, stating that regardless of the situation or location, today’s India views it as its responsibility to ensure the safety of its people.

“We brought back our nurses who got stuck in the Gulf countries. It was a very satisfactory moment for me when we safely brought Father Alexis Prem Kumar from war-torn Afghanistan, a decade back. He was stuck there for 8 months and was in hostage. For us, all these missions are not mere diplomatic missions but an emotional commitment to bring back family members,” the PM added.

The Prime Minister also shared pride in the elevation of George Koovakad as a Cardinal of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.

“It is a moment of pride that His Holiness Pope Francis has made His Eminence George Koovakad a Cardinal of the Holy Roman Catholic Church,” PM Modi asserted.

PM Modi Highlights India’s Progress & Women’s Empowerment

The Prime Minister continued to highlight India’s progress, including the eradication of poverty for 250 million people, the nation’s rise to the 5th largest economy globally, and its strides in technology and infrastructure.

Praising the role of women in India’s growth, PM Modi underscored their empowerment in various sectors, from entrepreneurship to the armed forces. He emphasized that no nation can progress without empowering women.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of collective effort in building a developed India. He expressed confidence that initiatives like Swachh Bharat and support for local artisans will drive India’s continued progress.

PM Modi affirmed, “A developed India is our shared goal, and together, we will achieve it,” while wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a hopeful Jubilee Year.
