Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called for efforts towards a self-reliant India while interacting via video conference with participants of the Seva Yatra travelling between Varanasi and Vadnagar under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
PM Modi said challenges would continue to emerge, but India has the values and determination needed to face them. He urged the Seva Yatris to work with renewed energy and a spirit of service, stressing that public service should remain central to national welfare and development.
The Prime Minister encouraged the participants to learn from their interactions with people across different communities. He said the journey offered an opportunity to understand diverse traditions, customs, experiences and ways of life while strengthening the connection between people and service initiatives.
PM Modi said greater participation from communities would make the Seva Yatra more meaningful and successful. He highlighted India’s diversity and described engagement with people as an important part of learning and public service.
The Seva Yatra began on September 17 as part of the wider Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, organised to mark PM Modi’s 25 years in public life.
Young participants are travelling through towns, districts, talukas and villages across multiple states, engaging with local communities and taking part in service-oriented activities.
The two-way motorcycle yatras between Varanasi and Vadnagar include cleanliness drives, interactions with beneficiaries and residents, and programmes at schools, hospitals, nursing homes and other community locations.
The Seva Yatris are engaging with local communities through cleanliness drives, youth interactions, Gram Sabha Samvad, Gau Seva and tree plantation activities.
The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan promotes community service and youth participation, with the Seva Yatra continuing until October 7.
