Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday addressed a public rally in Assam’s Lakhimpur.
Shah criticized the previous government. He blamed former PM, Jawaharlal Nehru. Shah stated that Nehru had neglected Assam and Arunachal Pradesh during the 1962 Chinese aggression.
‘China couldn’t encroach a single inch of land’
The Union Minister stated that China could not encroach a single inch of land under the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shah asserted, “They are talking about the culture of Assam now. The people of Assam and Arunachal will never forget the 1962 Chinese aggression. Nehru said bye-bye to Assam during that time.”
“Now, the change is that China couldn’t encroach a single inch of land under the Modi government. We showed some courage and stopped China for the 45 days in Doklam,” he said.
We support UCC for all: Shah
Hitting out at the Congress manifesto, Shah claimed that it favoured the Muslim personal law.
The manifesto of Congress shows their priorities. They are promising to establish Muslim personal laws. Whereas, our priority lies in establishing the Uniform Civil Code.

‘AFSPA withdrawn from 80% in Assam’
Shah noted that the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act has been withdrawn from 80 per cent of areas of the state.
The Union Home Minister asserted, “From 2004 to 2014, funds allocated for Assam were only Rs 1,62,000 crore. Since 2014 till now, we have allocated Rs 4,15,000 crore to Assam.”

Amit Shah took a jab at the opposition. He said that Assam will become a developed state like other states if the BJP is elected to power again for its third term.
“On 19 April, you will have to decide who will be your MP, which party will form the government and who shall be the next Prime Minister.”
“I want to tell you that in the coming days, Assam will become a developed state like other states. For years, the Congress party also had left the Ram Mandir issue hanging. It was during PM Modi’s time that the judgement came. Bhoomi Poojan happened and finally, on 22 January, the Pranpratishtha took place,” he added.
The election for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases. Nearly 97 crore voters are eligible to cast votes. The counting of the votes will be held on 4 June.
