It is about the connections between Khalistani separatists, organized crime, drug cartels, and human trafficking networks. He expressed the serious concerns of India on the ongoing anti-Indian activities carried out by Khalistani separatist parties in Canada.
Canadian soil used by Khalistanis
According to a press statement from the ministry of external affairs, Prime Minister Modi said that in recent years, Khalistani separatists have utilized Canadian soil to advance their cause. PM Modi informed Trudeau that these Khalistani radicals have recently threatened the Indian population in Canada and their places of worship, incited violence against Indian diplomats, and damaged diplomatic facilities.

Canadian ambassador summoned to India over Khalistan Issue
India summoned the Canadian ambassador earlier in July and issued a demarche in response to the growing actions of pro-Khalistani groups in Canada. The separatists, who are believed to have ties to Pakistan’s secret agencies, were dealt with when they published several posters including the names of specific Indian officials.
“The nexus of such forces with organised crime, drug syndicates and human trafficking should be a concern for Canada as well. It is essential for the two countries to cooperate in dealing with such threats,” the Prime Minister told his Canadian counterpart, according to the press release.

Temples sprayed with Anti-India Graffiti
At least six cases of Khalistani separatists spraying anti-India graffiti on Canadian temples and threatening to harm worshippers who go there have been documented. In some cases, these separatist groups have also attacked Canadian Indians, members of the Indian community, and Sikhs who do not share their ideology.
According to PM Modi, “shared democratic values, respect for the rule of law, and strong people-to-people ties serve as the foundation of India-Canada relations.” According to the press release, the Prime Minister stated that “a relationship based on mutual respect and trust is essential for the progress of India-Canada relationship.”
