The President’s office confirmed the meeting through an official post on X.

“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and briefed her about ‘Operation Sindoor’.”

High-Impact Military Action

Launched in the early hours of Wednesday, ‘Operation Sindoor’ saw coordinated strikes by the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy.

Between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM, Indian forces fired 24 missiles at nine high-value terrorist facilities, including Lashkar-e-Taiba’s headquarters in Muridke and strategic sites in Bahawalpur- long known as terror breeding grounds.

Initial reports from government sources suggest the operation eliminated an estimated 70 terrorists, with no civilian or military infrastructure targeted, thereby ensuring the action remained proportionate and non-escalatory.

Official Statement & Strategic Intent

At a press briefing in New Delhi, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, joined by Army Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, described the strikes as ‘measured and proportionate’.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the operations were based on credible intelligence of imminent attacks by Pakistan-based terror groups.

He cited the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 civilians, including a Nepali national, were killed.

The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front – a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy- marked one of the deadliest on Indian soil since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Colonel Qureshi noted that Pakistan has long maintained a network of terror training camps and launch pads.

She stressed that ‘Operation Sindoor’ was intended to ‘dismantle those very foundations’ and signals a shift in India’s counter-terrorism strategy.

Strategic Precision

India designed the operation to avoid broader conflict while firmly demonstrating its resolve against terror.

Misri said, “This morning’s strikes were precise, proportionate, and responsible – focused solely on neutralising terror threats.”

Real-time surveillance and post-strike assessments confirmed the successful destruction of all intended targets.

A Defining Military Response

‘Operation Sindoor’ stands as one of India’s boldest cross-border responses since the 2019 Balakot airstrikes.

It reflects a recalibrated doctrine of proactive counter-terrorism and has drawn both domestic and international attention for its swift execution and strategic restraint.

As tensions continue in the region, PM Modi’s detailed briefing to President Murmu underlines the constitutional and security gravity of the mission and affirms India’s commitment to protecting its citizens.
