Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Singapore on Wednesday afternoon, marking the second leg of his two-nation visit after a historic trip to Brunei. He was invited by Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. Upon his arrival, members of the Indian diaspora greeted him warmly with traditional Maharashtrian dance and drums at the airport. To the delight of those present, including several children, PM Modi even played the dhol.
In a post on X, PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Landed in Singapore. Looking forward to the various meetings aimed at boosting the India-Singapore friendship. India’s reforms and the talent of our Yuva Shakti make our nation an ideal investment destination. We also look forward to closer cultural ties.”
During his visit, PM Modi will participate in several meetings to further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Singapore. Discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation in digital innovation, skill development, sustainability, healthcare, connectivity, and advanced manufacturing.
PM Modi plans to meet with key leaders, including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. He will also engage with leaders of Singapore’s business community to discuss investment opportunities in India.
Last week, a high-level Indian delegation attended the second India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) in Singapore. The delegation met with Singapore’s Prime Minister Wong, who noted significant progress in cooperation, particularly in advanced manufacturing and connectivity.
PM Modi’s visit aims to deepen the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership, with a strong emphasis on economic and cultural collaboration.
