Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bengaluru on Wednesday, and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah received him at HAL Airport.
The Chief Minister handed over a five-page memorandum outlining key demands and seeking the Union government’s intervention on several state issues. Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh were also present.
Security arrangements were intensified ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to Adichunchanagiri Math in Mandya district. Over 2,000 police personnel were deployed, including senior officers and multiple specialised units such as KSRP, DAR, QRT, and ASC teams.
Following his arrival, PM Modi will likely travel by an Indian Army helicopter to Adichunchanagiri, landing at Shrigiri Tapovana helipad. From there, he will proceed by road to the Math to participate in rituals and a public programme.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandir, marking his visit as the first by a Prime Minister to the religious institution.
Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy said, “I wholeheartedly welcome the Hon’ble Prime Minister who is arriving to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Guru Bhairavaikya Mandir of the revered Jagadguru, His Holiness Dr Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji, of Sri Kshetra Adichunchanagiri Mahasansthan Math.”
“It gives me immense joy that the respected Prime Minister is visiting my home district, Mandya, to take part in this sacred and auspicious event. On behalf of the people of Mandya district and the entire state, I extend a warm welcome to the Hon’ble Prime Minister,” he further added.
The Prime Minister will receive a Mysuru Peta crafted from Mysuru and Benaras silk as part of a felicitation ceremony. The event holds social significance due to the Math’s influence among the Vokkaliga community. Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and other dignitaries are likely to attend.
