Addressing a rally in Gwalior, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at the Congress party, highlighting their 60-year rule characterized by a lack of development and playing with the sentiments of the poor. He contrasted this with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) government, which has propelled Madhya Pradesh from a ‘Bimaru Rajya’ to one of the top ten states in the country.

Historical Significance of Gwalior

Gwalior, a city known for its rich history and cultural heritage, holds a special place in India’s narrative. It symbolizes courage, pride, military honor, music, taste, and mustard cultivation. Gwalior has contributed significantly to the freedom struggle and has a storied history of producing bravehearts for the nation’s security.

Transforming Madhya Pradesh

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the positive changes brought about by the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh. He highlighted the concept of a “double-engine government,” signifying double the development for the state. Madhya Pradesh has witnessed a remarkable transformation under BJP rule, moving from being labeled a ‘Bimaru Rajya’ to becoming one of the top ten states in the country. The government’s aim is to propel the state into the top three.

Role of Opposition

PM Modi criticized opposition forces for their anti-development stance, suggesting that their politics are driven by hatred towards growth. He emphasized the importance of fresh thinking and innovative roadmaps for development, insinuating that the opposition lacks these qualities.

Infrastructure and Development Initiatives

During his visit to Gwalior, PM Modi laid the foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 19,000 crore. Notably, the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway, developed at a cost of approximately Rs. 11,895 crore, was dedicated to the nation. Additionally, he initiated five road projects worth over Rs 1880 crore.

 

Housing for All

PM Modi reiterated his commitment to providing housing for all. He marked the Grih Pravesh of over 2.2 lakh houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY) – Gramin, as well as houses built under PMAY – Urban at a cost of around Rs 140 crore.

Jal Jeevan Mission

Ensuring access to safe and adequate drinking water remains a priority for the government. PM Modi laid the foundation stone for Jal Jeevan Mission projects worth over Rs 1530 crore, set to benefit over 720 villages in Gwalior and Sheopur districts.

Healthcare and Education

In the realm of healthcare, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for nine health centers under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, a project valued at over Rs 150 crore. He also dedicated the academic building of IIT Indore and initiated projects for hostels and other buildings on the campus.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Gwalior marked a significant moment in the city’s history, emphasizing the progress achieved under BJP rule. From infrastructure development to housing and healthcare initiatives, the government’s commitment to the welfare of Madhya Pradesh was on full display. The promise of making Madhya Pradesh one of the top three states in India represents an ambitious vision for the state’s future.
