Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced the conclusion of the historic India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), describing it as a major milestone that will deepen economic ties, unlock new opportunities and strengthen the India-Europe partnership for a prosperous future.
Sharing the announcement on X, PM Modi said that he, European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had concluded the landmark agreement with delight.

He termed the FTA a significant step forward in India-EU relations and thanked European leaders over the years for their constructive spirit and commitment.
Calling it India’s largest Free Trade Agreement to date, the Prime Minister said the deal would moreover bring substantial benefits to India’s 1.4 billion people.
He noted that the agreement would make access to European markets easier for Indian farmers and small industries, create fresh opportunities in manufacturing, and strengthen cooperation between the services sectors of both sides.

PM Modi said the landmark deal between the world’s second-largest and fourth-largest economies promised to generate unprecedented opportunities and open new avenues for growth and cooperation.
He said the agreement would strengthen global trade stability, create quality jobs, boost mobility for youth and professionals, and drive innovation and digital growth.
PM Modi further added that the deal reflects India and the EU’s shared resolve for a prosperous, sustainable and future-ready partnership, and said the India-EU Business Forum helped expand economic linkages.
