On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s ambition to replicate Singapore’s development model across the country, as he met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation.

PM Modi, on a two-day official visit to Singapore at Wong’s invitation, highlighted the nation’s aspiration to create many Singapores in Bharat.

Speaking during the high-level talks, PM Modi said, “Singapore is not just a partner country but an inspiration for every developing country. We also want to create many Singapores in Bharat. I am happy that we are working in that direction together.”

The discussions between the two leaders covered a wide range of strategic areas, including skilling, digitisation, mobility, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, healthcare, sustainability, and cybersecurity.

In the presence of both leaders, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, solidifying partnerships in digital technologies, healthcare, education, and the semiconductor sector.

These agreements reflect the growing collaboration between India and Singapore in areas critical to both nations’ future growth and innovation.

The visit marked a significant moment in India-Singapore relations, with PM Modi receiving a ceremonial welcome at the Singapore Parliament House.
