Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress for consistently disrespecting Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, asserting that his BJP-led government has always shown him reverence. Speaking at a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Hoshangabad district, PM Modi also highlighted the Congress’s failure to acknowledge the contributions of the tribal community.
“The Congress has a history of disrespecting Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, whereas we have consistently honoured him… Thanks to the Constitution crafted by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, a tribal woman ascended to the presidency of India,” PM Modi stated on Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, according to PTI.
Taking aim at the opposition, PM Modi remarked, “The Congress is spreading fear by suggesting that if I were to become prime minister for a third term, the country would be engulfed in flames… The INDI alliance is indecisive about the direction in which the country should progress.”
Paying homage to Ambedkar on Ambedkar Jayanti, PM Modi hailed him as an inspiration for marginalized communities. “Tributes to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on his Jayanti. Jai Bhim! Babasaheb Ambedkar taught us that one does not need to be born into wealth to achieve greatness. In India, even those from humble backgrounds can aspire and strive to realize their dreams,” PM Modi expressed in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter).

He continued, “Despite facing obstacles and attempts to hinder his progress, the image of contemporary India stands in stark contrast. This India belongs to Babasaheb Ambedkar, to the underprivileged, to the marginalized.”
Dr. Ambedkar, recognized as the ‘Father of the Indian Constitution’, chaired the committee responsible for drafting India’s Constitution. Born on April 14, 1891, he was a multifaceted figure, distinguished as an economist, lawyer, and professor, alongside his significant political engagements during India’s independence movement.
BR Ambedkar was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honor in India, in 1990, thirty-four years after his passing on December 6, 1956.
