Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a landmark three-nation tour on Sunday, visiting Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia from June 15 to 19.
Before his departure, the Prime Minister described the tour as an opportunity to deepen global consensus on fighting terrorism and boost India’s diplomatic, economic, and technological engagements with key partners.

Strengthening Mediterranean & EU relations
PM Modi’s visit to the Republic of Cyprus on June 15-16 marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister in over two decades.
He is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and address business leaders in Limassol.
Modi described Cyprus as a close friend and vital EU partner, noting the opportunity to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, security, and people-to-people exchanges.
India’s High Commissioner to Cyprus, Manish, called the visit ‘historic’, especially as Cyprus prepares to assume the rotating presidency of the European Union Council in 2026.
India views the visit as strategically significant amid its ongoing tensions with Turkey over Ankara’s support to Pakistan and its stance on the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
G7 Summit participation in Canada
Following his Cyprus engagements, PM Modi will travel to Kananaskis, Canada, on June 16-17 to attend the G7 Summit, his sixth consecutive participation.
Invited by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Modi will join world leaders to discuss pressing global issues.
His agenda includes key areas such as energy security, innovation, the AI-energy nexus, and quantum technology.
On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi will also to meet PM Carney, with further bilateral meetings under discussion.
Notably, he is also set to come face-to-face with US President Donald Trump for the first time since their February meeting, in what could be a significant diplomatic exchange amid growing geopolitical tensions.
Historic first visit to Croatia
On June 18, Modi will arrive in Croatia, marking the first-ever official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country.
He will meet President Zoran Milanović and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.

The visit aims to open new avenues for bilateral cooperation in areas such as culture, technology, tourism, and security.
The Croatian leg of the tour reinforces India’s outreach to the European Union and showcases its commitment to strengthening ties with culturally aligned and strategically important partners in the region.
This multi-nation tour, according to PM Modi, is not only a diplomatic outreach but also a reaffirmation of India’s commitment to combat cross-border terrorism, promote inclusive development, and position itself as a leader among Global South nations.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit would deepen India’s bilateral ties while bolstering its role on key international platforms like the G7.
