Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme on June 20 from Hooghly (Tarkeshwar) in West Bengal, providing direct financial assistance to millions of farmers across the country.
Under the latest instalment, over Rs 18,880 crore will be transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to more than 9.44 crore farmer families nationwide. Beneficiaries will receive the funds directly in their bank accounts without any intermediaries.
Gujarat farmers will likely receive more than Rs 1,025 crore under the 23rd instalment.
To mark the occasion, the state government will organise a ‘PM Kisan Utsav Diwas’ at the Town Hall in Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani and Minister of State Ramesh Katara will also attend the event as part of the state-level implementation programme linked to the national rollout.
As part of the nationwide event, the Prime Minister will virtually interact with farmers and address beneficiaries from West Bengal.
According to official figures, the PM-Kisan scheme has released 22 instalments since its launch, providing more than Rs 4.28 lakh crore in cumulative assistance to over 11 crore farmers across India.
In Gujarat alone, more than 69 lakh farmer families have received over Rs 23,083 crore under the scheme so far.
To ensure wider participation, the state government has arranged live telecasts at Agricultural Science Centres, market yards, Farmer Producer Organisations, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samruddhi Kendras, and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies.
District-, taluka- and village-level events will enable farmers to watch the Prime Minister’s address.
Officials said the coordinated outreach aims to ensure the timely delivery of benefits and greater awareness among farmers through grassroots institutions.
