PM Commends Institute Of Actuaries’ Contribution To Economic Development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his congratulations and best wishes to the Institute of Actuaries of India on the occasion of its 25th Global Conference of Actuaries, describing the milestone as a testament to the organisation’s sustained efforts to strengthen the actuarial profession in the country.

In a letter dated 21 February, the Prime Minister said he was pleased to learn about the conference and commended the Institute for its consistent work in enhancing professional standards, promoting research and engaging with emerging areas of risk.

Highlighting the significance of actuarial science in a rapidly developing nation, he observed that the profession has evolved alongside India’s economic growth.

He underlined the increasing importance of risk management and data-driven policymaking in ensuring sustainable and inclusive development.

Referring to this year’s theme, ‘Actuarial Pathways to Viksit Bharat: Managing Risk for Inclusive Social and Economic Growth’, the Prime Minister described it as particularly timely as the country expands its social security framework and financial inclusion initiatives.

He noted that welfare schemes such as Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Ayushman Bharat have significantly broadened access to pension cover, insurance and healthcare protection.

The successful design and implementation of these initiatives, he remarked, demonstrate the critical role played by actuarial expertise.

As India moves towards its vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Prime Minister emphasised the need to strengthen safety nets and align development efforts with inclusive growth.

Expressing confidence that the conference would encourage dialogue and knowledge-sharing among students, associates, fellows and domain experts, he conveyed his best wishes for the event’s success.
