Piyush Goyal To Lead India’s Largest-Ever Business Delegation To Japan

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal will visit Japan from 24 to 27 August 2026, travelling to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka at the head of the largest business delegation India has ever sent to the country, according to an official statement issued on Sunday.

The delegation comprises more than 200 business representatives. They represent sectors including manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy and steel, as well as automotive, financial services, healthcare and start-ups.

The statement said the visit reflects the scale of ambition both nations bring to their Special Strategic and Global Partnership. It comes as India and Japan seek to significantly deepen trade and investment ties.

In the capital, Goyal will meet the top leadership of major Japanese conglomerates and industrial houses that have long been partners in India’s growth. He will hold a round-table with Keidanren, the Japan Business Federation, whose membership covers over 1,500 leading Japanese companies.

Dedicated sessions are planned on semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Separate engagements will focus on start-ups.

Another will centre on engagement with foreign institutional investors. Together, they are a nod to India’s growing pull as an investment and innovation destination.

The Minister will hold bilateral talks with his counterpart Akazawa Ryosei, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and call on senior members of Japan’s Government and Parliament. He will likely interact with the Indian community in Japan.

In Nagoya, the industrial heartland of Central Japan, Goyal will lead a roadshow with Chukeiren and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He will further engage with Aichi Prefecture leaders and major manufacturing investors in the automotive and steel sectors.

The trip concludes in Osaka with an Investors and Business Roadshow. The delegation will meet electronics, industrial and consumer companies. The meetings will, however, showcase India’s manufacturing, clean energy and consumer markets.

Japanese enterprises have played a defining role across India’s automotive, steel, electronics, financial services and infrastructure landscape, the statement added.
